The Girl With Hair That Could Fly
Sophie had the most extraordinary hair anyone in her little village had ever seen. It wasn't just curly—it was magical. Every morning when she woke up, her hair would be a different color, floating around her head like soft clouds.
One sunny Tuesday, Sophie's hair turned bright orange, the color of sunrise. She skipped through the meadow, her orange hair streaming behind her like a comet's tail. That's when she heard it—a tiny whimper coming from behind the old oak tree.
There, tangled in a bush of thorns, was the shaggiest dog Sophie had ever seen. His fur was matted and brown, but his eyes shone like golden honey.
"Don't worry," Sophie whispered, kneeling down. "I'll help you."
As Sophie reached toward the dog, her orange hair began to glow even brighter. It stretched and wrapped gently around the thorns, pulling them away one by one until the dog was free.
The dog shook himself and looked at Sophie with wonder. Then something amazing happened—the dog spoke!
"Thank you, kind child. My name is Barnaby, and I've been trapped in that bush for one hundred years."
"One hundred years?" Sophie gasped.
Barnaby nodded sadly. "An evil wizard put me there because I wouldn't stop children from crossing his bridge. But you—you're different. Your hair glows with kindness."
Sophie's heart swelled. She had always thought her wild, changing hair was strange. Now she knew it was special.
"Will you be my friend?" Sophie asked.
Barnaby's tail wagged so hard it almost knocked Sophie over. "Forever!" he promised.
From that day on, Sophie and Barnaby had wonderful adventures. Her magical hair would glow whenever someone needed help, and together they would find a way to make things right. The village children soon learned that if they ever felt lost or afraid, they just had to look for the girl with the glowing hair and her shaggy brown dog.
Sophie finally understood: the things that make us different are often our greatest gifts. And with a true friend by your side, even the smallest person can do big, magical things.
