The Girl With Green Hair

Lily had the most extraordinary hair in all of Willowbrook Elementary. Every morning, she would wake up to find her messy brown curls had turned a different color during the night. Sometimes they were purple like grape jelly. Sometimes blue like the ocean. But never green. That was the one color her hair refused to be.

One Tuesday, Lily's mom served spinach for dinner. Lily wrinkled her nose. "I don't want to eat this!"

"Spinach gives you special powers," her mom winked. "Powers you can only imagine."

Lily didn't believe her, but she ate the spinach anyway. That night, she dreamed of running through an enchanted garden where everything was green—emerald leaves, jade flowers, and trees with leaves like shimmering coins.

When Lily woke up, she jumped in front of her mirror. Her hair was green! Not just any green—it sparkled like emeralds in the sunlight. She ran to school, her green curls bouncing with every step.

At recess, Lily's friends gathered around. "Your hair is amazing!" gasped Mia. "Can we touch it?"

But as the day went on, Lily noticed something strange. Whenever she ran fast during tag, little green sparkles fell from her hair. And wherever the sparkles landed, tiny spinach plants began to grow!

By lunchtime, the schoolyard was full of baby spinach. The principal appeared, looking puzzled. "Who's been gardening during recess?"

Lily raised her hand guiltily. "It's my hair. It... it drops spinach seeds when I run."

The principal stared, then started to laugh. "Well then, I suppose you'll need to put those running skills to good use. Our school garden could use some help!"

Every day after that, Lily would run around the empty garden beds. Her green hair sprinkled spinach seeds everywhere. Soon, the whole school was enjoying fresh spinach from their very own garden.

And the best part? Lily finally learned that spinach wasn't so bad after all—especially when she'd grown it herself, one running step at a time.
