The Girl With Garden Hair

Lily hated spinach. Every time her grandmother placed a pile of the green leaves on her plate, she would wrinkle her nose and push it around with her fork. But that changed the day she discovered the secret garden behind the old oak tree.

Lily ran back to her village—running faster than ever before, her feet barely touching the ground. She saw Mrs. Higgins crying over her withered vegetable patch. Lily knelt and touched her hair to the dry soil. Fresh spinach sprouted instantly, along with carrots and tomatoes.

Word spread quickly. Soon, Lily was running all over the village, her magical hair bringing life to every garden she visited. Children chased after her, laughing as butterflies fluttered from her locks.

That evening, as the magic faded, Lily's hair returned to normal. But she had learned something wonderful: sometimes the things we think we don't like—like spinach—can help us discover our own special magic.
