The Girl Who Walked on Water

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's cottage by the lake. Every morning, she would wake up early and tiptoe outside to watch the sunrise paint the sky pink and gold.

One especially hot morning, Lily noticed something strange. The lake's surface was sparkling like someone had sprinkled diamond dust across it. Curious, she crept closer to the water's edge.

To her amazement, she saw a tiny bear cub — no bigger than a kitten — sitting on a lily pad. The bear had silky brown fur and the kindest eyes Lily had ever seen.

"Hello there, little friend," Lily whispered.

The bear cub waved its paw at her, and suddenly, Lily felt tingly all over. Her long brown hair began floating as if underwater, even though she was standing on dry land.

"I'm Berry," the bear said in a squeaky voice. "And I'm in trouble!"

Lily gasped. "A talking bear!"

Berry nodded sadly. "I'm a water bear from the magical lake kingdom. My home is disappearing because children have stopped believing in magic. Will you help me?"

"Of course!" Lily said without hesitating.

Berry hopped off the lily pad and onto the water. He began running across the surface, leaving tiny ripples that glowed with rainbow colors. "Follow me!"

Lily's heart pounded as she stepped onto the water. But instead of sinking, her feet stayed on the surface! She was walking on water!

Together, they went running across the sparkling lake toward the center, where a beautiful underwater castle was visible through the clear water. Colorful fish swam beneath their feet, and water lilies bloomed wherever they stepped.

"The kingdom needs children's imagination to stay alive," Berry explained. "When kids stop believing in magic, our world fades away."

Lily thought about all the magical stories she loved, and suddenly, she understood. Children's dreams and imagination kept the magic alive.

"I believe!" Lily called out, and her words made the water glow brighter.

Berry smiled. "Thank you, Lily. You've saved our kingdom! Always keep believing in magic, and we'll be here."

As Lily walked back to shore, Berry handed her a special seashell that shimmered with every color of the rainbow. "Whenever you need magic, just hold this to your ear."

Lily ran back to her grandmother's cottage, her hair still floating with magic, knowing that the most wonderful adventures begin with simply believing.
