The Girl Who Touched the Stars
Maya had the most extraordinary hair in her village. It curled and bounced like tiny springs, shimmering with hints of purple and gold whenever she laughed. The other children called it magical, but Maya just thought it was messy.
One starry night, Maya sat on her rooftop, braiding her hair as she watched the sky. Suddenly, something caught her eye—a magnificent bull made of sparkling stars, slowly descending from the constellation Taurus. Its coat gleamed like liquid moonlight, and its horns curved like crescent moons.
"You called me with your laughter," the star bull said, his voice sounding like wind chimes. "I'm Orion. Will you ride with me?"
Maya's heart jumped. She climbed onto Orion's back, and they soared through the galaxy, past planets that looked like giant marbles and comets that left trails of rainbow dust.
They landed in a mysterious place where a tiny pyramid sat glowing softly. Unlike the pyramids in books, this one was made of crystal and hummed with gentle music.
"This is the Pyramid of Lost Wishes," Orion explained. "Inside are all the wishes children forget to make."
Maya stepped inside and found thousands of glowing orbs floating around her—wishes for friendship, for puppies, for someone to play with. Her own forgotten wish appeared: a wish for friends who understood her wild imagination.
"The secret," Orion whispered, "is that the best wishes aren't for yourself. They're for others."
Maya understood. She touched her favorite curl and made a new wish—not for herself, but for every lonely child to find a friend like Orion. The pyramid burst with light, sending thousands of sparkles down to Earth like magical snow.
Orion carried Maya home, promising to return whenever she felt lonely. The next morning, Maya noticed something wonderful: children who had been shy and isolated were suddenly playing together, laughing as if they'd been friends forever.
That night, Maya braided her hair and smiled. Her hair wasn't just messy curls anymore—it was magic, because it had helped her touch the stars and share their light with everyone else.
