The Girl Who Tamed the Stars

Maya had the wildest hair in her whole class. It puffed out like a chocolate cloud around her face, always escaping its braids. But she didn't mind. Her grandma said her hair was full of magic, just waiting to be discovered.

One night, Maya couldn't sleep. She crept downstairs to feed her goldfish, Goldie. But when she switched on the light, something amazing happened. Goldie didn't just swim—she floated right out of her bowl!

"Maya!" the goldfish said in a tiny, sparkly voice. "I need your help!"

Maya rubbed her eyes. "You can talk?"

"Only to special friends," Goldie bubbled. "There's a lonely bull in the night sky. He's the Taurus constellation, and he's forgotten how to be happy. Will you help me?"

Maya's heart raced. This was the adventure she'd always dreamed of!

Goldie grew bigger and bigger until Maya could climb onto her shimmering back. Together they soared through Maya's open window, up past the rooftops, into the velvety dark sky.

Stars twinkled like tiny diamonds around them. They found Taurus the bull sitting alone on a patch of clouds, his great horns drooping.

"Nobody visits me," the bull said sadly. "I'm too big and scary."

Maya slid off Goldie's back and approached him. "You're not scary. You're magnificent!"

She told him jokes and stories. She showed him how to make constellations dance by rearranging his stars. The bull's eyes began to shine like twin moons.

From that night on, Maya visited her friend Taurus every evening. She and Goldie would go running through the stars, having the most wonderful adventures.

And whenever Maya's wild hair especially poofy, her grandma would say, "Ah, I see you've been dancing with the stars again."

Maya would just smile, her eyes twinkling like the bull's—full of magic, friendship, and the secret knowledge that even the loneliest creatures just need someone to believe in them.
