The Girl Who Ran on Sunshine
Lila loved exploring her grandmother's magical garden, where vegetables glowed and flowers sang lullabies. But today she was worried. Grandma had been coughing all morning, and the soup wasn't simmering on the stove.
"Grandma, you need to rest," Lila said, tucking a blanket around the old woman's shoulders. "I'll finish the soup."
Grandma smiled weakly. "The secret ingredient is in the garden. The **orange** spinach that only blooms once every hundred years. But it grows at the very top of Sunbeam Mountain..."
Lila's eyes widened. Sunbeam Mountain was three hours away!
"I'll run there and back before lunch!" Lila declared, tying her shoelaces double-knot tight.
As she dashed out the door, something magical happened. Her feet began to sparkle with golden light. With each step, she felt lighter and faster, as if the sunshine itself was lifting her up. She was **running** so swiftly that the trees blurred into streaks of emerald green, and the wind sang happy songs in her ears.
Lila reached Sunbeam Mountain in minutes, leaping over streams and bounding up hills like a graceful gazelle. At the summit, a single glowing plant grew – the legendary orange spinach, its leaves shimmering like tiny sunset clouds.
She plucked the magical vegetable carefully and raced home, her feet trailing rainbow sparks across the meadow. The other children watched in amazement as Lila zoomed past, leaving behind trails of glittering light.
Back in the kitchen, Lila added the orange spinach to the soup. The broth turned a beautiful golden color, and a wonderful aroma filled the cottage. Grandma's eyes widened as she sipped the healing soup.
"Why, Lila!" Grandma exclaimed, her cheeks turning pink again. "This is the best soup I've ever tasted! And look at you – you're practically glowing!"
Lila looked down at her feet, still twinkling with sunshine magic. "I think the magic worked because I wanted to help you."
From that day on, whenever anyone in the village needed help, Lila would lace up her shoes and go **running** to the rescue, leaving trails of rainbow light behind her. She had discovered something more magical than any enchanted garden: the fastest way to travel is when you're **running** to help someone you love.
And sometimes, if you look closely at sunset, you can still see Lila's golden footprints dancing across the sky, reminding everyone that kindness is the greatest magic of all.
