The Girl Who Could Taste Magic
Lily was six years old, and she had a secret. She could taste magic in food.
One Tuesday, she bit into a bright **orange** from the grocery store. CRACK! Out popped a tiny sparkly sun, no bigger than a marble. It zipped around her kitchen like a buzzing bee, leaving trails of golden light that smelled like citrus dreams.
"Whoa!" Lily whispered. The tiny sun landed on her nose and winked.
That afternoon, her grandmother served **spinach** for dinner. Lily frowned—but when she took a bite, WHOOSH! Emerald leaves unfurled from her plate, growing taller and taller until they brushed the ceiling. Each leaf shimmered like a fairy wing, and somewhere inside their green depths, Lily heard tiny giggles.
"The vegetables are alive!" she gasped.
The spinach leaves rustled back: *"We've been waiting for someone who believes."*
Outside, a **water** droplet trickled down the windowpane. But this wasn't ordinary water—it was a liquid rainbow, swirling with colors that didn't exist anywhere else. The droplet slid down the glass, leaped onto Lily's hand, and bubbled into a miniature waterfall that flowed upward instead of down.
"Come with us!" bubbled the waterfall. "The Magic Garden needs you!"
The tiny sun from her orange grabbed her pinky finger. The spinach leaves lowered themselves like a green staircase. The upward-**running** waterfall formed a sparkling path.
Lily's heart pounded. Was she brave enough?
She stepped onto the rainbow waterfall and floated upward, higher than the roof, higher than the trees, until she reached a hidden garden in the clouds. There, creatures made of starlight tended vegetables that glowed and pulsed with happiness.
"You saved us," a star-creature explained. "When you believe in magic, you make it real. Most grown-ups forget. But you remembered."
Lily beamed. She had always known the world was full of secrets, just waiting for someone curious enough to find them.
That night, Lily fell asleep with a tiny orange sun tucked under her pillow, a spinach leaf bookmark in her favorite book, and rainbow water swirling in a jar by her bed. And somewhere in her dreams, the magic garden was waiting for her next visit.
After all, the best magic is the kind you carry in your heart.
