The Girl Who Could Talk to Goldfish

Emma hated taking her vitamin every morning. It was orange and chalky and made her nose wrinkle. But today, she forgot to take it before running to the park.

She was running through the gardens when she spotted something strange. A small goldfish was swimming in a tiny puddle near the fountain. Most goldfish were just gold, but this one shimmered like a rainbow.

"Help me!" said a tiny voice.

Emma looked around. No one was there.

"Down here! In the puddle!"

Emma gasped. The goldfish was talking to her! His scales glowed with every word.

"I'm Finn," said the goldfish. "I need to get back to the Enchanted Pond before sunset, or I'll lose my magic forever."

Emma's curly hair blew in the wind as she knelt down. "How can I help?"

"You need to carry me in water. But not ordinary water — magic water!" Finn's fins wiggled. "Do you have anything special?"

Emma thought for a moment. Then she remembered! Her mom had given her a special vitamin bottle that morning. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the orange tablet.

"This is a magic vitamin," Emma said. "My mom says it gives me powers."

She dropped the vitamin into her water bottle, then carefully scooped up Finn. The water turned sparkly and golden.

"Whoa!" Finn swam happily. "I can feel the magic already!"

Emma held the bottle tight and started running toward the Enchanted Pond at the edge of the park. Her legs felt stronger than ever. The vitamin was working!

They reached the pond just as the sun began to set. Emma poured Finn into the water, and he instantly grew bigger and brighter.

"Thank you, Emma!" Finn sang. "Because you were kind and brave, I grant you three wishes!"

Emma thought carefully. She could wish for toys or candy, but that wasn't what she wanted.

"I wish that every child who needs vitamins could have them," she said first.

"Granted!" Finn waved his fins, and golden sparkles floated into the sky.

"I wish that everyone could find magic in helping others," she said second.

"Granted!" More sparkles danced across the water.

"And my last wish..." Emma touched her wild, curly hair. "I wish my hair would always remind me of this magical day."

Finn smiled. "That wish is already granted." He tapped her nose with his fin. "Look in the water."

Emma looked at her reflection. Her curls now shimmered with tiny rainbow sparkles, just like Finn's scales.

"Your hair will always sparkle when you help others," Finn said. "And every morning when you take your vitamin, remember — magic is real when you believe in it."
