The Girl Who Caught Stars
Mia had the most extraordinary hair in the whole neighborhood. It wasn't just curly—it was magical. Whenever she laughed, tiny silver sparkles would dance through her brown ringlets, and when she was happy, her hair would float around her face like a soft, glowing halo.
One summer evening, while playing in her backyard, Mia saw something fall from the sky. It wasn't a bird or a plane. It was a baseball, but it shimmered with golden light and pulsed like a heartbeat.
"Strange," she whispered, reaching out. The moment her fingers touched the ball, she saw a thin, silver cable stretching up from it—straight into the stars!
Suddenly, a voice echoed from the ball. "Help! I'm stuck!"
Mia gasped. "Who are you?"
"I'm Orion, a star who slipped! I was playing cosmic baseball with the moon, and I fell!"
The baseball flickered, and Mia felt a wave of loneliness from it. She looked at the silver cable connecting the fallen star to his home. "How do I get you back?"
"Someone needs to throw me back up the cable! But the cable is old and weak..."
Mia's hair began to glow brighter. She realized her magical hair could help. "I have an idea!"
She called her friends Sophie and Jake. Together, they braided Mia's magical hair into a long, strong rope, weaving friendship and courage into every strand.
"Ready?" Mia asked, holding the baseball.
"Ready!" her friends cheered.
Mia wound up and threw the ball with all her might. It sailed up, up, UP—following the silver cable higher and higher until it became a shooting star streaking home.
"Thank you!" Orion's voice echoed from the sky. "Your friendship is the strongest magic in the universe!"
That night, Mia and her friends watched the stars twinkle brighter than ever. And whenever they saw a shooting star, they knew it was Orion playing baseball again, reminding them that even the smallest friends can do the biggest things.
