The Garden Zombie's Secret Friend

Lily loved exploring her backyard, especially with Whiskers, her fluffy orange cat who liked to pounce on butterflies. One sunny afternoon, Lily noticed something strange near the old oak tree—a creature with shaggy green fur and sleepy eyes was tangled in a thick cable from her dad's workshop.

"Don't be scared," whispered Lily, though her heart beat fast. The creature looked like what her big brother called a zombie from his video games, but this one seemed sad, not scary. Its leafy arms were wrapped around the cable, and it made soft whimpering sounds.

Whiskers crept closer, being his usual spy self, peeking from behind bushes to investigate. The orange cat's tail twitched with curiosity instead of fear. That's when Lily noticed something magical—the creature's fur had tiny flowers growing in it!

"Are you stuck?" Lily asked gently. The zombie-like creature nodded slowly. Lily realized it wasn't a monster at all—it was a Garden Guardian! The cable had gotten wrapped around its ankles during the night storm.

Lily's dad had given her his old iPhone to play with, and it had a flashlight feature. She turned it on and shone the light so she could see better. Working together with Whiskers keeping watch like a brave little spy, Lily carefully unwound the cable from the Guardian's legs.

"Thank you," the Garden Guardian said, its voice sounding like rustling leaves. "I was trying to water the flowers when the storm blew this cable around me."

Lily's eyes widened with wonder. "You take care of the garden?"

The Guardian nodded and held out its hand, which was filled with sparkling seeds. "Would you like to help? Friends make the garden grow better."
