The Garden's Gentle Guardian
Lily loved exploring behind her grandmother's house, especially near the old stream where the water sparkled like diamonds in the sun. One afternoon, while running through the tall grass, she spotted something strange moving near the willow tree.
It looked like a zombie from her storybooks - slow and shambling - but as Lily crept closer, she gasped. It wasn't scary at all! The creature was made entirely of vines, moss, and morning glories, its flower-bud eyes blinking sleepily.
"I'm Zomby," the garden guardian rasped like wind through leaves. "I've forgotten something important..."
Lily noticed Zomby's mossy skin turning pale and flaky. "Have you been eating your vitamins?" she asked, remembering her mother's words about staying strong.
Zomby shook its head sadly. "The magic vitamin tree by the water stopped blooming. Now I'm fading away."
Lily's heart swelled with determination. "I'll help you!"
Hand in viney hand, they walked to the stream where a small tree stood with bare branches. Lily noticed something orange glowing beneath the roots - a single perfect orange glowing with golden light!
"The last magic orange," Zomby whispered. "But I'm too weak to reach it."
Lily scrambled into the shallow water, grabbing the precious fruit. As she peeled it open, the most wonderful smell filled the air - sunshine and rainbows together. She fed it to Zomby piece by piece.
Something magical happened. Zomby's vines turned vibrant green, new flowers bloomed all over, and the tree burst into hundreds of glowing oranges. "Thank you, Lily," Zomby said, now strong and radiant. "You taught me that friendship is the strongest vitamin of all."
From that day on, Lily visited her gentle guardian friend. They'd share oranges by the water, and sometimes when she ran through the garden, she'd pretend she was a vine creature too - slow and steady, but full of magic.
