The Garden of Wishes
Lily loved the old garden behind her grandmother's house. Every morning, she would go running through the winding paths, her bare feet padding softly on the cool grass. The garden was full of secrets, and Lily was determined to discover them all.
One sunny Saturday, Lily noticed something she had never seen before. Behind the rosebushes, a tiny stream of crystal-clear water bubbled up from between two mossy stones. The water sparkled like diamonds in the morning light, making a soft gurgling sound that made Lily smile.
Curious, she followed the little stream deeper into the garden. It led her to a hidden corner she had never explored, where an extraordinary orange tree stood. Its leaves shimmered with an inner light, and hanging from every branch were the most beautiful oranges Lily had ever seen—each one glowing softly like tiny suns.
Beside the magical tree grew a patch of vibrant green spinach. But this wasn't ordinary spinach. The leaves danced and swayed even though there was no wind, as if they were alive with joy.
"You found my special garden," said a gentle voice. Lily turned to see her grandmother smiling. "This tree grows wish-oranges. The magic water makes them special, and the dancing spinach keeps them company."
Lily's eyes widened. "Wish-oranges?"
"Yes," her grandmother explained. "But here's the secret—the wishes only work if you share them. The more you give away, the more magic they have."
Lily picked the glowing orange, closed her eyes, and made her wish. Then she thought of her best friend Emma, who had been sad lately because her dog was sick. Lily ran to Emma's house and gave her the magical orange.
When Emma peeled it open, the most wonderful aroma filled the room. They shared the sweet, juicy fruit, and somehow, they both felt lighter and happier. The next day, Emma's dog was running around again, healthy and full of energy.
Lily learned that day that the best magic isn't in oranges or wishes, but in kindness and friendship. And every time she shared something special with someone else, the garden seemed to glow a little brighter.
Now, whenever she goes running through the garden, Lily remembers that the greatest adventures are the ones we share with the people we love.
