The Garden Monster's Gift
Max was an explorer. Every Saturday, he explored the woods behind his house. But today, something was different.
A thick black cable stretched across the path. It shimmered in the sunlight. Max had never seen it before. It wound through the trees, disappearing into a garden he'd never noticed.
Max followed the cable. Where did it lead?
The garden was magical. Flowers glowed softly. Butterflies with rainbow wings danced in the air. And there, kneeling in the dirt, was a zombie.
Max froze. Everyone knew zombies were scary. They stumbled around saying "brains" and chased people.
But this zombie wasn't chasing anyone. It was planting seeds.
The creature was tall and green, with patches of darker moss on its skin. Its eyes were gentle and bright. It moved slowly, carefully placing each seed into the earth.
Max stepped closer. A twig snapped.
The zombie looked up. It didn't look scary at all. It looked... lonely.
"Hello?" Max whispered.
The zombie smiled. It reached into its pocket and pulled out something round and bright.
An orange.
It held out the orange to Max.
"For you," the zombie said softly. Its voice sounded like autumn leaves crunching.
Max took the orange. It was perfect. "Thank you. But... why?"
"You're not scared of me," the zombie said. "Everyone else runs away. They see a monster and scream. But you... you stayed."
Max looked at the orange, then at the magical garden. "You made all this?"
"Yes. My name is Zara. I bring dead gardens back to life. That's my gift. But people think I'm a monster because of how I look."
Max thought about this. Then he smiled. "You're not a monster. You're a gardener."
Zara's eyes brightened. "Would you like to help?"
Max nodded eagerly.
Together, they planted seeds. Zara showed Max how to care for each one. The cable wasn't just any cable - it was a magical vine that helped Zara connect with plants, bringing them to life with her gentle touch.
They became best friends. Every Saturday, Max helped Zara tend the magical garden. And whenever Max visited, Zara always had the sweetest orange waiting for him.
Max learned something important that day: Sometimes, the things we think are scary are actually wonderful. We just need to be brave enough to say hello.
The moral? Never judge someone by how they look. True friendship blooms when you see with your heart, not your eyes.
