The Garden Guardian's Secret

Lily loved her grandmother's magical garden more than anything in the world. Every Saturday, she helped tend to the glowing orange pumpkins that sparkled like tiny lanterns. One afternoon, while harvesting fresh spinach for dinner, the sky suddenly crackled with purple lightning. But instead of scary thunder, the lightning made musical chimes—ding! dong! like fairy bells.

"Quick!" Grandma called, pointing to an old cable buried beneath the rosebushes. "The Shadow Sprites are coming! We need to wake the guardian!"

Lily's eyes widened. She'd always thought the garden's protector was just a story. But as Grandma tugged the mysterious cable, the ground began to tremble. Up rose a friendly figure made of twisted vines and gentle moss—a Garden Zombie!

"Not scary at all!" Lily whispered, amazed.

The Garden Zombie blinked its flower-petal eyes and reached for the spinach. As it ate, the vegetables glowed brighter. The zombie's magic spread through the garden, making a shimmering shield that kept the Shadow Sprites away.

"You see," Grandma explained, "even things that seem frightening can be our friends. The Garden Zombie protects us."

Lily patted the zombie's leafy hand. It smiled back, dropping a pumpkin seed into her palm—a magical gift of friendship. From that day on, Lily learned never to judge by appearances, and that the best magic comes from courage, kindness, and an open heart.
