The Garden Guardian

Lily sat in her garden, poking at her iPhone. The screen glowed with bright colors, but nothing seemed as interesting as the mysterious rustling coming from behind the spinach patch.

"Hello?" she called, setting her phone on the grass.

A tiny creature poked its head out from between the emerald green leaves. It looked like a miniature person, no bigger than a thumb, with skin that shimmered like moonlight and wings like a dragonfly.

"I'm Finn," the creature squeaked. "And I'm very hungry."

Lily's eyes widened. "I have grapes! Or crackers!"

Finn shook his head sadly. "Those won't help. I'm a Garden Guardian, and I've forgotten how to fly. My grandmother said we need something special from the garden to make our wings strong again."

Lily thought hard. She remembered what her mother had said at dinner. "Spinach! It's full of vitamins that make you strong!"

She plucked a fresh spinach leaf and offered it to Finn. The tiny creature took a small bite and suddenly began to glow. His wings fluttered, then buzzed, and soon he was hovering above the spinach patch.

"It worked!" Finn danced in the air. "Thank you, Lily! You're my best friend!"

"But why didn't you know about the spinach?" Lily asked.

Finn landed on her shoulder. "Because Garden Guardians need human friends to remind us about the good things in the garden. We protect the plants, but you teach us what makes them special."

From that day on, Lily visited Finn every afternoon. She learned that vitamins weren't just boring things her mom talked about—they were magic that helped things grow strong. And Finn learned that sometimes the best friends come in the smallest packages.

Lily still used her iPhone sometimes, but she found that adventures in the garden were much more magical than anything on a screen.
