The Garden Friend

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's magical garden. One misty morning, she spotted something strange near the pumpkin patch—a slow-moving figure with mossy hair and flower petals sprouting from its skin.

"A zombie!" Lily gasped, hiding behind a sunflower.

The figure stopped and looked at her with sad, gentle eyes. "Please don't run," it said softly. "I'm not scary. I'm just lonely."

Lily stepped closer. The zombie was covered in beautiful wildflowers, and instead of smelling scary, it smelled like rain and fresh earth. "What's your name?"

"I forgot," the zombie sighed. "I've been wandering so long, looking for something important. But I can't remember what."

Lily noticed the zombie's leaves were drooping and its flowers were fading. "You look like you need something to feel better."

"I do," it nodded. "My grandmother used to say that friends and sunshine are the best vitamins for a sad heart. But I haven't found either in a long time."

Lily's eyes widened. "Wait—my grandma says the same thing! Sunshine vitamin is what makes us happy and strong!"

The zombie's mossy face brightened. "That's it! I've been looking for a friend!"

Lily took the zombie's leafy hand. "Well, you found one. Come sit with me in the sunniest spot!"

They sat together under the golden morning light. As they shared stories and laughter, something magical happened. The zombie's flowers bloomed brighter than ever, and its mossy hair sparkled with dewdrops.

"I remember now," the zombie beamed. "My name is Fern! And friendship really IS the best medicine!"

From that day on, Fern became Lily's best garden friend. Together, they discovered that the scariest-looking things sometimes turn out to be the most wonderful friends—all they need is a little sunshine and a lot of heart.
