The Friendship Pond
In a meadow where the grass grew taller than a fence post lived Barnaby, a bull with a heart as big as his spotted brown back. Barnaby was different from other bulls — he didn't want to charge or fight. He wanted to make friends.
One morning, Barnaby heard a tiny sneeze from behind a blackberry bush. Out popped Felix, a fox with the fluffiest orange tail anyone had ever seen.
"Good morning!" said Barnaby gently.
Felix trembled. "B-b-bulls are scary!"
"Not me," Barnaby smiled. "I'd rather share flowers than chase foxes."
Felix's ears perked up. "Really? Well, I'm not like other foxes either. I don't want to steal chickens. I want to see the world!"
"Then let's explore together!" Barnaby said.
The two unlikely friends walked until they reached a sparkling pond. In the middle floated Lily, a tiny goldfish with scales that shimmered like rainbows. But Lily looked lonely.
"Hello there!" called Felix.
Lily swam closer. "Oh my, a bull and a fox who are friends? That's magic!"
"Friendship IS magic," Barnaby said wisely. "Would you like to join our adventure?"
"I can't leave my pond," Lily said sadly. "I'm just a little goldfish."
Barnaby's eyes twinkled. "Not for long!" And with that, the gentle bull carefully lifted Lily in his huge, soft hoof, placed her in a bucket of pond water, and the three friends set off to see the world together.
That day, Barnaby, Felix, and Lily learned something wonderful: you don't have to be the same to be friends. Sometimes the best buddies come in the most unexpected shapes and sizes.
And from that day on, no one in the meadow was ever lonely again.
