The Friendship Paddle

Lily's cat Mittens was no ordinary cat. He wore a tiny blue bow tie and could somehow understand everything Lily said. But Mittens had a secret - he was lonely whenever Lily went to school.

"Mittens, what's wrong?" she asked, sitting beside him.

Lily smiled and stirred the birdbath water with the paddle. But instead of drinking it herself, she dipped her fingers in the magical water and touched Mittens' forehead with a sparkling droplet.

"You already have a friend, silly cat," she whispered, hugging him tight. "Me!"
