The Friendship Cable

Lily loved running through the Whispering Woods, her red sneakers crunching on autumn leaves. But today something made her stop — a small green figure sitting on a mossy log, looking terribly sad.

"Hello?" Lily called softly. "Are you okay?"

The figure looked up. It was a zombie, but not a scary one. His skin was mint-green, his eyes were sparkly purple, and instead of looking hungry, he looked lonely.

"I'm Zimby," he sniffled. "I'm supposed to be spooky, but I'm not good at it. The other zombies laugh at me."

Lily sat beside him. "Maybe you don't need to be spooky. What do you LIKE to do?"

Zimby's face lit up. "I LOVE gardening! But I can never get my plants to grow. They always wilt and turn brown."

"I know what they need!" Lily reached into her pocket. "My mom gives me this every morning. It's called a vitamin — it helps things grow strong and healthy." She handed him a bright orange gummy vitamin shaped like a sun.

Zimby's eyes widened. "For my plants?" He planted a tiny seed, gave it the vitamin, and *POOF!* The most magnificent sunflower burst from the ground, glowing golden.

"It works!" Zimby cheered. "But how will I show the other zombies? They're all the way across the Gurgling Swamp!"

Lily thought hard. Then she spotted something tangled in the bushes — a long, colorful cable with little lights twinkling along its length.

"Perfect!" Lily grabbed one end. "Hold this, Zimby! I'll take the other end across the swamp. Whatever happens to me, you'll feel it too — like friendship magic!"

Running faster than she ever had before, Lily carried the cable across the swamp. When she waved, Zimby felt it! When she spun, he spun too! The other zombies gathered around, amazed.

"Zimby's glowing!" they gasped. Indeed, thanks to the friendship cable connecting them, Zimby was shimmering with joy.

That day, Zimby taught all the zombies about vitamins and gardening. Soon, the spooky graveyard became the most beautiful garden in the kingdom. And every evening, Lily and Zimby would hold hands across the cable, proving that the strongest magic isn't spookiness — it's friendship.
