The Friendly Zombie's Secret Pyramid

Lily and Max were exploring their grandmother's dusty attic when they found something strange: a golden cable that seemed to glow in the dim light. It stretched from the attic window up into the clouds, shimmering like spun sugar.

"Where do you think it goes?" Lily asked, her eyes wide with wonder.

"Only one way to find out!" said Max, grabbing the cable.

WHOOSH! The cable pulled them up, up, up through the clouds and into the sky. They landed on a floating island where a crystal pyramid sparkled in rainbow colors.

Inside the pyramid, they found something unexpected: a swimming pool filled with sparkling water, and splashing around was... a zombie!

But this wasn't a scary zombie. He wore a colorful swim cap and goggles, and he waved happily at the children. "Hello! I'm Zed! Welcome to my magical pyramid!"

Zed explained that he wasn't a scary zombie at all—he was a magical guardian who protected the pyramid's secret: it was a place where lonely children could find friends and have adventures. He loved swimming because the magic water made him feel alive instead of tired and slow like regular zombies.

"I've been so lonely up here," Zed said sadly. "Nobody wants to visit when they hear 'zombie' and 'pyramid.' They think it's scary!"

Lily and Max looked at each other and smiled. "That's the silliest thing we've ever heard!" said Lily. "You're the friendliest zombie we've ever met!"

The three of them spent the afternoon swimming and playing in the magical pool. Zed taught them tricks—how to make underwater bubbles that formed shapes, how to float like clouds, and how the cable could bring them back anytime they wanted.

When it was time to leave, Zed gave them each a special crystal from the pyramid. "Now you can always call me if you need a friend or want to swim," he said.

Lily and Max slid down the golden cable back to their grandmother's attic, their hearts full of magic and their new friendship. They learned that sometimes the scariest-sounding things can be the most wonderful, and that friendship can be found in the most unexpected places.

And every summer after that, they would grab that golden cable and soar up to the pyramid, where their friend Zed was always waiting, ready for another swimming adventure in the magical crystal pyramid in the clouds.
