The Friendly Zombie's Secret
Lily was the best spy in her whole third grade class. She had a magnifying glass, a notebook, and a special spy badge made from a shiny button. One Saturday, Lily decided to spy on the mysterious hill behind her house. Her big brother said it was an ancient pyramid built by magical creatures, but Lily wanted to find out the truth.
She crawled through tall grass, taking careful notes in her spy notebook. Suddenly, she heard a strange sound: "BRAAAAINS... but only for thinking!"
Lily gasped and hid behind a bush. Peeking out, she saw a green zombie shuffling toward the old pyramid structure. He wasn't scary at all — he wore polka-dot shorts and carried a flower basket!
"Hello?" Lily called out bravely.
The zombie jumped! "Oh my! I didn't see you there. I'm Zed, and I'm not really a zombie. I just look like one because of a magic spell."
Lily stepped closer. "What are you doing?"
Zed pointed to the pyramid. "Every full moon, this pyramid glows with magic dust that makes the most beautiful flowers grow. I'm the guardian, but I get lonely doing it by myself."
The pyramid suddenly began to sparkle. Golden light danced around them, and tiny flowers popped up everywhere!
"Wow!" Lily whispered. "You're not scary at all. You're a gardener!"
Zed smiled crookedly. "Most people run away when they see me. You're the first spy who stayed to say hello."
Lily grinned. "A good spy knows that things aren't always what they seem. Can I help you plant flowers?"
Together, the spy and the zombie planted magical blooms that glowed like tiny stars. Lily learned that the best spies don't just find secrets — they find friends in the most unexpected places.
From then on, every full moon, Lily would return to the pyramid to help her friend Zed. And she never judged anyone by their appearance again — not zombies, not monsters, and especially not new kids at school who looked a little different from everyone else.
