The Friendly Zombie's Secret

Leo loved exploring the jungle behind his house. The coconut palm trees towered above him like green giants, their leaves whispering secrets in the wind. One afternoon, while chasing a bright blue butterfly, Leo stumbled upon a hidden clearing he'd never seen before.

In the middle of the clearing sat a small figure with green skin, tattered clothes, and messy hair. A zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary like in the movies. He was sitting quietly, reading a book about flowers.

"Hello," Leo said bravely.

The zombie jumped and dropped his book. "Oh! You can see me?" His voice sounded kind, not spooky at all.

Leo nodded. "I'm Leo. What's your name?"

"I'm Zummy," the zombie said, smiling shyly. "I've been lonely for so long. Everyone runs away when they see me."

"I won't run away," Leo promised. "Want to be friends?"

Zummy's eyes lit up like stars. "Really? A real friend?"

Together they explored the jungle. Zummy showed Leo the most beautiful secret spots—hidden waterfalls, fields of glowing flowers, and trees that grew rainbow-colored fruit. In return, Leo taught Zummy how to skip stones, climb trees, and make dandelion wishes.

"Why were you all alone?" Leo asked one day.

Zummy sighed. "I'm different from other zombies. I don't want to scare people. I want to help them and make friends. But they never give me a chance."

Leo squeezed Zummy's hand. "Well, you have me now. And my friends will love you too!"

That weekend, Leo brought his whole class to meet Zummy. At first, some kids were scared. But Zummy made them laugh with silly jokes and helped a little girl who had scraped her knee. By sunset, everyone was playing tag together.

Zummy had found not just one friend, but a whole community of friends. And Leo discovered that the best adventures are the ones you share with someone unexpected.

Now, if you ever visit a jungle with tall palm trees and hear laughter in the distance, it might just be Leo and Zummy, still having adventures together.
