The Friendly Zombie's Pyramid Quest
Lily discovered the crystal pyramid hidden beneath her grandmother's attic stairs. It glowed with golden light, and when she touched it, the pyramid swung open like a door.
Inside sat a small green creature with patchy clothes and a crooked smile.
"Urrrgh," he said, but his eyes twinkled like stars.
"Are you a zombie?" Lily asked, not scared at all.
"Zigg the zombie," he nodded slowly. "Cursed to move and speak slowly, but kind at heart."
Zigg told her his story: an evil wizard had trapped his best friend, a magical goldfish named Golda, inside the pyramid's enchanted pond. Golda could grant one wish—but only to someone pure of heart.
"I wish to be fast again," Zigg said sadly. "But I cannot make the wish myself."
Lily's eyes widened. "I'll help you!"
"But first," Zigg cautioned, "you must prove your courage by finding the Golden Vitamin. It lies beyond the Whispering Woods."
Lily grabbed her backpack and stuffed it with granola bars and her lucky flashlight. She squeezed Zigg's cold, green hand.
"Let's go!"
The woods were dark and spooky. Shadows danced like ghosts. But Lily remembered Zigg's kindness and kept walking.
At the heart of the forest, she found a cave guarded by three stone owls.
"Answer our riddle," they hooted together. "What makes you strong when you're weak, and brave when you're scared?"
Lily thought hard. She remembered Zigg, who stayed kind even when he was cursed. She remembered her grandmother, who stayed cheerful even when her legs hurt.
"Love," Lily said bravely. "And friendship."
The owls nodded and the cave opened. Inside sat a glowing orange pill—the Golden Vitamin.
Lily grabbed it and ran back, her heart pounding with excitement.
At the pyramid, she dropped the vitamin into the pond. The water turned rainbow-colored, and Golda the goldfish appeared, shining like a tiny sun.
"You have proven yourself brave and true," Golda sang. "What is your wish?"
Lily looked at Zigg, who had become her friend.
"I wish for Zigg to be fast again!"
Golda swam in a perfect circle, and sparkles filled the air. Zigg's green skin shimmered, and suddenly he jumped up and danced.
"Thank you, Lily!" Zigg cheered, speaking clearly. "You taught me that true friends see hearts, not appearances."
Lily hugged her zombie friend. The pyramid remained as a reminder that courage, kindness, and friendship are the greatest magic of all.
And whenever Lily felt scared, she remembered: even the slowest, scariest-looking creatures might just need a friend to help them shine.
