The Friendly Zombie's Pool Party
Lily loved running through the sprinkler in her backyard, but today was extra special. Her grandmother had whispered about a secret hidden deep in the woods behind their house — a magical pool that appeared only when the moon was full.
That night, Lily slipped outside and followed the glowing fireflies deep into the forest. Suddenly, she heard a strange sound: *splash, splash, splash!* But not a scary splash — a happy one!
There it was: a crystal-clear pool shimmering with starlight. And in it? A green zombie boy was swimming happily, doing backflips and cannonballs!
"Boo!" he called, waving. "I'm Zed, and you're just in time for my pool party!"
Lily wasn't scared. Zed wasn't like the zombies in stories — he was just a lonely magical creature who loved making friends. His skin glowed like emeralds, not scary gray. His eyes twinkled like fireworks.
"But zombies are scary," Lily said, standing at the pool's edge.
"Only the mean ones," Zed said with a grin. "I'm a FUN zombie. Watch this!" He did a perfect somersault in the water, creating rainbow ripples.
Lily couldn't resist. She jumped in, splashing Zed with the biggest splash ever. They spent the whole night swimming together, playing tag, and having races.
"I was running from mean kids who were scared of me," Zed admitted quietly. "But you're different. You're brave."
"Being brave means seeing past scary outsides to find kind insides," Lily said.
By dawn, they were best friends. Zed promised to meet her every full moon for swimming adventures. And he gave her a special seashell — whenever she held it, she could hear water laughing.
Lily learned that sometimes the scariest-looking things can be the most wonderful friends. And that courage is just curiosity with your heart wide open.
Now, whenever she sees fireflies, she smiles. Her magical zombie friend is waiting, ready for their next midnight pool party.
