The Friendly Zombie's Magic Hat

In a tiny village at the edge of the Whispering Woods lived a girl named Lily. She loved exploring, especially near the old garden where nobody dared to go.

One autumn afternoon, Lily crept through the twisted gate and saw something extraordinary. A green-skinned boy with patchy clothes was carefully watering flowers. He wore a tall purple hat decorated with twinkling stars.

"Are you a zombie?" Lily asked, remembering scary stories from her brother.

The boy looked up sadly. "I'm Zomberto. But I'm not scary. I just look different."

His purple hat suddenly glowed, and the flowers around him burst into brilliant colors. Zomberto smiled shyly. "My grandmother gave me this magic hat. It helps plants grow happy."

Lily's eyes widened. "That's amazing!"

Zomberto pointed to a tree filled with glowing oranges. "These are special. When you share them, they make friends."

He picked the brightest orange and handed it to Lily. She took a bite—it tasted like sunshine and giggles and birthday wishes all at once.

"Will you be my friend?" Zomberto asked hopefully. "Everyone runs away because I look different."

Lily grinned. "Of course! And I know who needs these magic oranges."

She took Zomberto's hand and led him to the village playground where children sat alone, scared to talk to each other. Together, they shared the magical oranges, and soon everyone was laughing and playing.

The purple hat sparkled overhead, and Zomberto finally felt like he belonged.

From that day on, children visited the garden every afternoon. They learned that true friendship has nothing to do with how you look—it's about the kindness in your heart and the magic you share with others.

And sometimes, the most wonderful friends come from the most unexpected places.
