The Friendly Zombie's Magic Garden

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic, especially on stormy days. Rain tapped against the window as lightning flashed across the sky. That's when she found it—a tall purple hat tucked behind an old trunk.

"What's this?" Lily wondered, lifting the hat. Dust motes danced in the light from another lightning flash. Something green poked out from inside.

It wasn't a frog or a leaf. It was a tiny zombie, no bigger than Lily's hand, with stitching on his forehead and button eyes. But he didn't look scary at all. He smiled!

"Hello!" squeaked the tiny zombie. "I'm Zed!"

Lily gasped. "You can talk?"

"Only when someone wears the magic hat!" Zed explained. "And now you must come with me. My garden needs help!"

Before Lily could ask how a tiny zombie could have a garden, Zed tapped the hat's brim. WHOOSH! They tumbled through a swirl of sparkles.

They landed in a magical place where flowers hummed and trees whispered secrets. But in the center, the plants looked droopy.

"My spinach plants won't grow," Zed said sadly. "They need magic from the lightning sky, but I'm too small to reach it!"

Lily looked up. Storm clouds swirled above, but lightning was striking far away. "Maybe I can help!"

She held the purple hat high. "Please, lightning! Come help Zed's garden!"

A single bolt of lightning—golden and gentle—shot down and landed right in her hat. The hat glowed warm against her hands.

"Quick!" Zed cheered.

Lily sprinkled the lightning magic over each spinach plant. They stretched and grew, leaves shimmering with silver light. The spinach glowed like tiny moons.

"Thank you!" Zed hugged Lily's thumb. "This spinach makes people strong and kind. Now I can share it with everyone!"

Lily's stomach rumbled.

Zed laughed. "Would you like to try some? It's magical!"

Lily took a bite. It tasted like sunshine and rainbows, like adventures waiting to happen. She felt braver, kinder, and full of wonder.

"Come back anytime," Zed said as the hat brought her home. "Friends are always welcome in my garden!"

Lily tucked the hat back in the attic, knowing magic was real—especially when you're willing to help a friend.
