The Friendly Zombie's Garden Magic
Lily loved visiting her grandfather's farm. Every summer, she'd help feed the animals and tend the garden. But her favorite spot was the old swimming pool behind the barn. It wasn't a regular pool — the water shimmered with an unusual orange glow at sunset.
One afternoon, while Lily was eating spinach from the garden (she was the only kid who actually liked it!), she heard a strange sound from the pool area. Thump. Thump. Thump.
She crept closer and gasped. A green figure was stumbling near the pool's edge! It looked like a zombie from her storybooks, but this one wore overalls and a floppy sun hat.
"Hello?" Lily called out bravely.
The zombie jumped. "Oh my! I didn't expect anyone to see me like this."
That's when Lily noticed — the zombie was actually Grandpa's old friend, Farmer McGee! "Mr. McGee? What happened to you?"
"I was trying out my new fertilizer," he explained sadly, pointing at a patch of bright orange spinach leaves. "Something went wrong. Now everything I touch turns temporarily green!"
Suddenly, the farm's giant bull, Ferdinand, came lumbering over. Ferdinand was usually grumpy, but today he looked worried. He nudged Farmer McGee gently with his nose.
"Ferdinand must know you need help," Lily said. "I have an idea!"
Lily remembered something from her science class. Orange juice could neutralize certain reactions! She grabbed all the oranges she could find and squeezed them into a bucket.
"Let's try this!" She poured the fresh orange juice over Farmer McGee's hands while Ferdinand sprinkled water from the enchanted pool. Poof! The green color faded away.
Farmer McGee cheered. "It worked! You two are the best friends anyone could ask for."
That night, as Lily swam in the magical pool, she realized something important: sometimes things that seem scary at first just need a little creativity, kindness, and friendship to make them right. And sometimes, even spinach and oranges could save the day!
