The Friendly Zombie of Magic Pool

Leo was the best spy in the neighborhood. He wore sunglasses, carried a magnifying glass, and solved mysteries like who stole Mrs. Thompson's cat toys. But this summer day brought his strangest case yet.

At the community pool, Leo noticed something odd. A green figure floated near the deep end, moving slowly with arms outstretched. The other kids whispered, "It's a zombie! A swimming zombie!"

Leo adjusted his spy sunglasses. Time to investigate.

He slipped into the cool blue water, swimming silently like a secret agent fish. Closer and closer he crept, until he could see the "zombie" clearly.

It wasn't a zombie at all. It was new kid Marcus, practicing his swimming strokes in an oversized green t-shirt that looked like seaweed. His arms stretched forward just like Leo had read in his spy manual about "the zombie glide"—a real swimming technique!

"You're not a zombie," Leo said, popping up beside him.

Marcus jumped, sending water splashing everywhere. "I was pretending," he admitted shyly. "I wanted to make friends, but everyone kept running away."

Leo smiled. "Well, Spy Agent Leo approves your zombie glide. Want to learn my secret spy strokes?"

That afternoon, the zombie swam with the spy. They raced, they splashed, they invented new games. And when other kids asked about the scary zombie, Leo just winked.

"That's no zombie," he'd say. "That's my friend Marcus, the best swimming spy in training."

Sometimes the best mysteries aren't monsters at all—they're just friends waiting to be found.
