The Friendly Guardian of the Golden Pyramid

Lily and Max were playing in their backyard when they found something strange shimmering in the old garden pond. As they leaned closer, the **water** began to swirl like a tiny tornado, forming a magical doorway!

"Wow!" whispered Lily, grabbing her brother's hand. "Should we..."

"Yes!" Max grinned, and together they stepped through the swirling portal.

Suddenly, they were standing in the middle of a golden desert under a sky full of twinkling stars. Before them rose an enormous **pyramid** made of sparkling crystal that glowed with rainbow colors. At its side sat a magnificent **sphinx** with emerald eyes and wings made of stardust.

"Welcome, young adventurers," the sphinx spoke in a voice like gentle bells. "We have waited a thousand years for someone kind enough to visit."

"But why us?" asked Lily.

"Because our friend needs help," said a sad voice from behind the pyramid.

There, peeking out from the shadows, was a **zombie**—but not a scary one! This zombie had patchwork skin in every color of the rainbow, flowers growing from his pockets, and the biggest, shyest smile Lily and Max had ever seen.

"I'm Zing!" the zombie said happily. "I'm the guardian of the Wishing Pyramid. But..." He looked down at his feet. "Everyone runs away when they see me. They think I'm scary because I'm a zombie."

Max stepped forward bravely. "You're not scary, Zing. You're wonderful! Look at your rainbow skin and your flowers!"

Zing's face lit up like a sunrise. "Really?"

"Really!" said Lily. "We'll be your friends!"

The sphinx purred with delight. "Your kindness has broken the ancient spell. For a thousand years, only those who could see past appearances could enter. And now..." She waved her wing, and the crystal pyramid began to glow even brighter.

"Make a wish!" Zing exclaimed.

Lily and Max looked at each other and knew exactly what to wish for.

"We wish that Zing could come visit us sometimes!" they said together.

The pyramid flashed with brilliant light, and suddenly Zing held a magical golden coin. "I can visit anytime now! Thank you for seeing the real me."

From that day on, Zing became their most magical friend. He taught them that true beauty is found in kindness, not appearances, and that the best friends are often the ones you least expect.

And whenever they wanted to visit, they just had to find a patch of shimmering water, and adventure would be waiting.
