The Friendliest Zombie in Town

Leo hated mornings. Every day at breakfast, his mom placed the same orange vitamin next to his pancakes. "It'll help you grow strong," she'd say. Leo would make a face and swallow it as fast as possible.

But one Tuesday, something magical happened. After taking his vitamin, Leo felt a strange tingling in his legs. At recess, he discovered he could run faster than anyone! He zoomed around the playground like a rocket, laughing as the wind rushed through his hair.

That afternoon, Leo was running through the park when he heard a sad groan coming from behind the old oak tree. Curious, he peeked around and saw a small green figure sitting on a bench. It looked like a zombie, with patchy clothes and pale skin—but this zombie wasn't scary at all. He was crying.

"What's wrong?" Leo asked kindly.

The zombie looked up with big, watery eyes. "Nobody wants to play with me. They all run away when they see me coming."

Leo's heart went out to him. "I'm Leo. What's your name?"

"Zed," the zombie sniffled.

"Nice to meet you, Zed! Do you like to run?" Leo asked.

Zed shook his head slowly. "I'm too tired. I haven't had my vitamins in months."

Leo's eyes widened. He remembered his extra vitamin in his backpack—his mom always packed a spare. He dug it out and handed it to Zed. "Here! My mom says these give you energy."

Zed took the vitamin, and soon he was hopping up and down with a big smile. "I feel amazing! Let's race!"

The two new friends spent the whole afternoon running and playing together. Zed wasn't scary at all—he was funny, kind, and the fastest zombie Leo had ever met.

From that day on, Leo learned an important lesson: sometimes the things that seem scary or unpleasant—like zombies or vitamins—can turn out to be wonderful surprises when you give them a chance. And the best adventures often come from making unexpected friends.
