"Ugh," she groaned, popping a gummy **vitamin** her mom had left on the counter with a note: DON'T FORGET YOUR HEALTH EVEN WHEN YOU'RE BEING A TEENAGER. Thanks, Mom. Super helpful.

Her sister's **cat**, Mittens, wound around her ankles, purring like a tiny motor. Maya nudged her away with her socked foot. "Not today, demon. I'm already spiraling."

Her palms were sweating. Actual **palm** sweat. Disgusting. She wiped them on her jeans, leaving dark streaks. This is fine. Everything is fine. "JUST INTERNAL EXISTENTIAL CRISIS STUFF," Maya shouted back.

Her phone buzzed again. avery's gonna be there. wear that hat.

The compliment—and the tiny thrill she felt—made her pause. Then she caught her reflection again, half-covered by the hat, half-hiding, and something clicked. She'd been trying on different personalities like outfits, but what if she didn't have to pick just one? What if she could be the girl who loved vintage hats AND cheesy pop music AND gummy vitamins?

Maya grabbed her phone and texted back: im coming. hat and all.

At Jake's, someone made a joke about her 'aesthetic.' Maya surprised herself by laughing. "Honestly? I'm just vibing. Figuring it out. You know how it is."

"For real," Avery said, grinning. "I **bear**-ly know who I am most days."

They laughed. Maya's palms stopped sweating. The hat stayed on, but she finally felt like herself underneath it.
