The Fox Who Watched Over Friends

lightningswimmingfoxspy

Freddie the Fox had a secret. Every evening, he would creep to the top of Raspberry Hill and spy on his friends down in the meadow. He wasn't being mean — he just wanted to make sure everyone was safe and happy.

One night, a storm rolled in. Lightning flashed across the sky like nature's fireworks. Freddie watched his friends scatter for cover, but little Bella Rabbit was nowhere to be found!

Freddie's heart beat fast as he raced down the hill, his orange fur blending with the autumn leaves. He followed a tiny trail of paw prints to the edge of Whisper Creek, where the water was rising higher and higher.

There was Bella, shivering on a small patch of grass, surrounded by rushing water!

"Don't worry!" Freddie called. He'd been swimming in the creek since he was a baby fox. But the current was stronger than usual, and the water kept rising.

Then Freddie noticed something magical. Every time lightning flashed, glowing blue fish appeared in the water, lighting up the dark creek like swimming stars.

"Quick!" Freddie said to Bella. "Grab onto my back!"

Bella scrambled onto Freddie's warm, fluffy back. With each lightning flash, the glowing fish showed them the safest path through the water. Freddie paddled strongly, his paws working like little propellers.

When they reached the bank, Freddie's other friends were waiting with hugs and warm berries. Freddie felt his tummy glow warm — not from lightning, but from happiness.

"You're not just a spy," Bella said, nuzzling Freddie's cheek. "You're a guardian friend."

From that night on, Freddie still watched over his friends from Raspberry Hill. But now, everyone knew his secret — and Freddie knew that true friends always look out for each other, no matter what storms come their way.
