Lily sat by the edge of her backyard pool, dipping her toes in the cool water. It was a hot summer afternoon, and she wished she had someone to play with. Her parents were busy working, and her best friend Sam had moved to another state.

Suddenly, something shimmered beneath the surface. A tiny goldfish with scales like crushed diamonds swam right up to Lily's toes. But this wasn't an ordinary goldfish—it had the kindest eyes she had ever seen.

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk?"

"Magic goldfish can do many things," Finley said with a wink. "I can grant one wish. What does your heart desire?"

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for toys, or candy, or even a trip to the moon. But what she really wanted was something else.

"I wish for a friend," she said. "Someone kind and brave who loves adventures."

Finley's scales sparkled brighter than ever. "Close your eyes and count to three."

When Lily opened her eyes, a beautiful orange fox with the fluffiest tail she had ever seen was sitting beside her, looking up at her with curious golden eyes. Behind it, the palm tree swayed in the breeze as if waving hello.

"I'm Felix," said the fox. "Finley sent me. I've been looking for a friend too."

From that day on, Lily and Felix were the best of friends. They had tea parties under the palm tree, raced around the pool, and Finnegan the goldfish would often join them, creating magical rainbows in the water.
