The Fox Who Swam Through Screens

Lily loved her iPhone, but today it felt lonely. Her fingers tapped the glass, wishing for a friend who understood her daydreams.

Then something magical happened. The screen rippled like real water. A small orange fox with emerald eyes poked his head through!

"Hello!" squeaked the fox. "I'm Finnigan. I saw you through the water portal."

"You can talk?" Lily gasped.

"In my world, animals speak through the water-magic!" Finnigan's tail wagged. "Come meet my best friend!"

The fox reached through the screen with a paw that turned into water. He pulled Lily through — and suddenly she was swimming in a shimmering stream beneath a sky of purple clouds.

A goldfish with golden scales that sparkled like tiny stars swam over. "I'm Glub!" he bubbled. "Finnigan told me about you! You must be the Girl-Who-Watches-Through-The-Glass!"

"How do you know about iPhones?" Lily asked.

"They're magical windows!" Finnigan explained. "Only kind-hearted children can see through them."

Lily spent the afternoon playing chase with the fox and racing the goldfish through rainbow currents. But as the sun began to set, Glub looked sad.

"What's wrong?" Lily asked.

"I'm not shiny enough," Glub said. "The other goldfish have sparkles from Magic Vitamins they find in the Crystal Cave. But I'm too scared to go there."

Lily smiled. "Friendship is the best vitamin for courage! Finnigan and I will go with you!"

Hand in paw, the three friends ventured to the Crystal Cave. Inside, glowing pebbles pulsed with light. But guarding the vitamins was a shadow-creature.

"Only those who share may pass," it rumbled.

Lily thought quickly. She picked up THREE vitamins — one for each of them. "We take them together!"

The shadow-creature smiled and dissolved. Glib ate his vitamin and burst into dazzling sparkles. But the real magic was the glow in their hearts.

"Now I understand," Finnigan whispered. "The real magic isn't in the vitamins. It's in friendship!"

As Lily swam back through her iPhone screen, she knew she'd never feel lonely again. Her magical friends were just a splash away, anytime she needed a dose of the most powerful vitamin of all — love.
