The Fox Who Spied on Dreams

Felix was a small fox with the biggest ears in the forest, which was perfect because he wanted to be a spy. Every night, he would creep through the moonlit woods, listening to secrets. The rabbits whispered about the tastiest clover. The owls debated the best hunting branches. But Felix wanted to discover something truly magical.

One evening, he followed a trail of glowing fireflies deeper into the forest than he'd ever ventured before. There, hidden behind a curtain of weeping willow branches, he found it—a crystal pool where the water shimmered like liquid stars.

But Felix wasn't alone. A little girl named Lily sat by the pool, holding a strange racquet called a padel. She smiled when she saw him.

"I'm the forest spy," Felix declared, puffing out his chest. "What are you doing?"

"Playing star-ball with the moon," Lily whispered. She swung her padel gently, and a ball of moonlight rolled across the water's surface like silver mercury. "Would you like to play?"

Felix had never seen anything so wonderful. For hours, they played beneath the watching stars, hitting glowing orbs of light back and forth. The pool reflected their joy, and the fireflies danced around them like tiny cheering crowds.

"The best spies," Lily said softly, "don't just discover secrets. They discover friends."

Felix realized she was right. He had found something better than any secret—a magical friend who made the moon play games. Every night after that, the fox who thought he wanted to be a spy became instead the guardian of the star-pool, where wonder and friendship were the greatest magic of all.

And that, Felix decided, was the best discovery of all.
