The Fox Who Saved the Magic Goldfish

Lily pushed through the tall grass behind her house, her iPhone clutched tight in her hand. She was looking for the perfect place to take pictures for her nature project. That's when she saw it—a mysterious golden pyramid-shaped rock that had definitely NOT been there yesterday.

The pyramid glowed with soft rainbow light, and curious little faces peeked from the grass around it. Foxes! Three of them, with fur the color of autumn leaves and eyes like shiny copper pennies.

"You found it!" whispered the smallest fox, bouncing forward. "The Magic Pyramid of Aqua!"

Lily knelt down. "What's inside?"

"Our friend," the fox explained sadly. "A goldfish named Fin. He's under a sleeping spell. We need someone pure of heart to wake him."

The pyramid's walls shimmered like soap bubbles. Lily pressed her hands against them, and suddenly she could see inside. There floated Fin the goldfish, but he looked strange—his scales were gray, and he moved in jerky motions, almost like a… zombie fish!

"Oh no," Lily gasped. "He looks like a zombie goldfish!"

"Exactly!" cried the fox. "The spell made him a zombie fish—neither fully asleep nor fully awake. Only true friendship can break it."

Lily's own pet goldfish, Sparkle, swam in her room at home. She knew how special fish friends could be. She pressed her forehead against the pyramid and whispered, "Fin, if you can hear me, I'll be your friend. I'll visit every day."

The pyramid began to hum. Sparkles danced around them like fireflies. Suddenly, the zombie fish's gray scales turned orange-gold again. He swam gracefully, not jerkily at all!

"You did it!" the foxes cheered, dancing around her.

Lily took out her iPhone and snapped a photo of the magical moment. The pyramid faded into the ground, but she knew she'd return.

Every day after school, Lily visited her fox friends and Fin. Sometimes she brought her camera to capture their adventures. And sometimes, just sometimes, Fin would swim through special rainbow water in the pyramid and visit Sparkle in her room.

Because the best magic isn't in pyramids or spells. It's in friendship—and the friends who visit you, whether they have fur, fins, or feet.
