The Fox Who Saved a Sleeping Fish

Lily loved swimming in the secret pond behind her house. The water sparkled like diamonds in the sun. One warm afternoon, she noticed something unusual. An iPhone lay half-buried in the mud at the water's edge. Its screen still glowed with a mysterious golden light.

A beautiful red fox with the softest fur Lily had ever seen trotted out from behind a willow tree. The fox looked at her with wise amber eyes and seemed to nod toward a large goldfish floating motionless near a lily pad.

"That fish looks like a zombie," Lily whispered, remembering the scary stories her older brother told. But the fox nudged her hand gently, as if saying don't be afraid.

Lily knelt by the water and saw the truth—the goldfish wasn't a zombie at all. It was tangled in an old fishing line, barely able to move. The fox barked softly and nudged Lily's backpack. Inside, she found her small scissors from art class.

With steady hands, Lily carefully cut the fishing line while the fox stood guard. The moment the goldfish was free, it swam away in a flash of brilliant orange scales.

The iPhone screen suddenly flashed with a message: THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS. Then it powered off completely, its magical duty done.

The fox dipped its head to Lily, then disappeared into the forest. Lily smiled, swimming home with a happy heart. Some things that seem scary aren't scary at all. Sometimes they just need a little help, and sometimes, magic comes from kindness.

That night, Lily dreamed of golden fish swimming through stars, and a red fox who knew that true friendship means helping those who can't help themselves.
