The Fox Who Raced Time
Fiona was no ordinary fox. Her fur shimmered like sunset, and her emerald eyes held centuries of secrets. She lived at the edge of the Whispering Woods, where an ancient stone sphinx guarded the entrance to a hidden realm.
One morning, Fiona found the sphinx crying crystalline tears.
"What's wrong?" Fiona asked, curling her tail around herself.
"My friend Barnaby is trapped in the Timeless Valley," the sphinx rumbled. "He's been running in circles for a hundred years, trying to find the way out. Only someone quick and clever can help him."
Fiona's ears perked up. "I'm quick. And I'm definitely clever."
The sphinx smiled mysteriously. "Then prove it. Solve my riddle, and I'll open the path. What runs but never moves, has a mouth but never speaks, and has a bed but never sleeps?"
Fiona's whiskers twitched as she thought. Then she grinned. "A river!"
"Correct," the sphinx boomed. The stone door rumbled open, revealing a swirling golden valley.
Inside, Fiona saw Barnaby—a massive, gentle bull—galloping endlessly in glowing circles. His golden horns gleamed, and his hooves left trails of starlight.
"Barnaby!" Fiona called. "Stop running!"
"I can't!" Barnaby cried. "If I stop, the magic fades!"
Fiona's clever mind whirled. She remembered something her grandmother had taught her: sometimes the fastest way forward is to stand still.
"Run WITH me instead!" she shouted, sprinting toward the center of the valley where a silver flower bloomed.
Barnaby followed, his thunderous hooves shaking the ground. Together, they reached the flower—and suddenly, the spinning stopped.
"You did it!" the sphinx's voice echoed. "Friendship broke the spell."
Barnaby nuzzled Fiona gratefully. "Thank you, little friend."
Fiona learned something magical that day: some problems can't be outrun alone, but with a friend, even time itself can be conquered.
And sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is run toward someone who needs help.
