The Fox Who Loved Baseball
Timmy lived on a farm where the grass grew tall and green. Every summer afternoon, he'd grab his favorite baseball and glove, heading to the old watering hole where the animals gathered.
One hot July day, as Timmy tossed his baseball in the air, a rusty red fox emerged from the tall grass. Unlike other foxes who ran away, this one sat and watched the ball soar through the air with bright, curious eyes.
"You want to play?" Timmy whispered.
The fox tilted its head, and to Timmy's amazement, nudged the baseball with its nose back toward him! They played catch until the sun began to set.
Suddenly, thundering hooves shook the ground. Farmer Brown's massive bull, Buster, charged toward the water hole. Timmy trembled—Buster was known for being grumpy.
But the fox didn't run. Instead, it gently nosed the baseball toward the bull.
Buster stopped. His big brown eyes softened as he sniffed the ball. Then, ever so carefully, he nudged it back with his enormous nose.
Timmy gasped. "You want to play too?"
Soon, an unlikely game formed: Timmy threw, the fox darted after the ball like lightning, and Buster gently returned it with his powerful nose. The three friends played until stars filled the sky.
Farmer Brown found them there and couldn't believe his eyes. His grumpy bull, usually so fierce, was playing gently with a fox and a little boy.
"Friendship," Farmer Brown said with a smile, "can be found in the most unexpected places. Even a bull, a fox, and a boy can become best friends."
That summer, the watering hole became a magical place where differences didn't matter. Every afternoon, Timmy, the clever fox, and the gentle bull would meet for their special game of baseball—proving that kindness and friendship can turn anyone into best friends, no matter how different they might seem.
