The Fox Who Dreamed of Ocean
Finnegan was a small fox with fur the color of autumn leaves. He lived in a meadow far from the sea, but every night he dreamed of crashing waves and shimmering blue water.
One afternoon, while exploring near the old orchard, Finnegan spotted something unusual. An orange had fallen from a tree and rolled into a small puddle. Inside that tiny pool swam a goldfish — glowing like a tiny sunset!
"Hello there!" said Finnegan, his nose twitching with curiosity. "How did you get all the way out here?"
The goldfish swam to the surface and spoke in a voice like bubbling springs. "My name is Coral. A bird carried me in a raindrop, and now I'm stuck in this little puddle. It's getting smaller every day."
Finnegan's heart hurt for the little fish. "I wish I could take you to the ocean. I've dreamed about it my whole life."
Coral's scales sparkled brighter. "Then let's go together! I can show you the way if you help me reach the river."
So Finnegan did something very brave. He carefully lifted the orange half-full with water, and Coral swam inside. The fox carried his new friend through forests and fields, over hills and under starlight.
When they finally reached the river that led to the sea, Finnegan gently released Coral. "Thank you for showing me the way to my dream."
But Coral had one surprise left. "You carried me so carefully that my magic has grown," she said. "Climb on my back, little fox."
Coral grew big as a boat! Finnegan rode her all the way to the ocean, where they played in the waves until sunrise.
Sometimes the best adventures happen when you help someone else find their way home.
