The Fox Who Dreamed in Colors
In a forest where everything was ordinary, a young fox named Rusty was born seeing the world in colors no one else could see. When other foxes saw green leaves, Rusty saw emeralds dancing. When others saw brown dirt, Rusty saw chocolate flowing.
Rusty loved running through the forest at dawn, chasing sunbeams that painted the world in gold and pink.
"You're too dreamy," the other foxes said. "Foxes should be quick and clever, not always imagining things."
But Rusty couldn't help being different.
One morning, while running his favorite path, Rusty stumbled upon a magnificent palm tree that seemed to shimmer with rainbow light. This was strange — palm trees didn't grow in this forest!
Curious, Rusty approached. There, sleeping beneath the magical tree, was the oldest dog he had ever seen. His fur was silver as moonlight, and he wore a tiny hat with stars on it.
"Hello?" Rusty whispered.
The old dog opened one eye. "Ah, finally! I've been waiting centuries for a fox with colorful dreams."
"Who are you?"
"I'm Merlin," said the dog. "And this is the Wish Palm."
"Wish Palm?"
"Indeed," said Merlin. "Once every thousand years, this tree grants one wish to someone who dreams differently than everyone else."
Rusty's heart raced. A wish?
"But you must share it," Merlin continued. "The Wish Palm only grants wishes meant for others."
Rusty thought of the other foxes who made fun of him for being different. He thought of how lonely he felt sometimes.
"I wish," Rusty said carefully, "that everyone could see just a little bit of the magic I see."
The palm tree glowed brighter, and suddenly — WHOOSH! — a burst of rainbow color swept through the entire forest.
Rusty's fox friends gasped. They could see it! The emerald leaves, the chocolate earth, the golden sunbeams!
"We're sorry we made fun of you," they said. "This is beautiful!"
From that day on, Rusty wasn't the dreamy fox anymore. He was Rusty the Magician, the fox who brought color to everyone's world.
And sometimes, if you look closely at the forest, you can still see the Wish Palm shimmering, waiting for the next different dreamer to come along.
