The Fox Who Couldn't Swim
Emma loved visiting her grandfather's farm every summer. She would bring her iPhone to take pictures of all the animals she met. There was Barnaby the gentle bull who let her pet his giant head, and Cleo the clever fox who lived near the creek.
One hot afternoon, Emma found Cleo sitting by the water's edge, looking sad.
"What's wrong?" Emma asked.
Cleo's ears drooped. "The baby rabbits are stuck on an island in the middle of the creek. Their mother can't swim across to help them."
Emma looked. Sure enough, three tiny rabbits were huddled together on a small patch of land, surrounded by rushing water.
"I'll help!" Emma said. "We can be spies and figure out how to rescue them!"
Cleo's tail wagged. "A spy mission! I like that. But I don't know how to swim."
Emma thought hard. She remembered seeing something by the old barn. Running as fast as she could, she found Grandpa's wooden raft. It was perfect!
Together, Emma and Cleo pushed the raft into the water. Emma climbed on first, then helped Cleo aboard. The fox was nervous but brave.
"Like a spy," Cleo whispered, "quiet and careful."
They paddled slowly to the island. The baby rabbits squeaked with joy when they saw them. Emma lifted each little rabbit onto the raft, and Cleo kept them warm with her fluffy tail.
On the way back, Barnaby the bull waded into the shallow water to help pull them to shore. He was so strong!
Mother rabbit was waiting. She hopped around them in happy circles. Even Cleo did a little dance.
"We did it!" Emma cheered. "The best spy team ever!"
That night, Emma used her iPhone to show Grandpa pictures of their rescue mission. He smiled and said, "Every hero needs good friends."
Emma fell asleep dreaming of her next adventure with Cleo the fox, Barnaby the bull, and whoever else might need help tomorrow.
