The Fox Who Could Call the Stars

Felix was a clever little fox with fur the color of autumn leaves. Every night, he would creep to the edge of the forest and watch the human family in the yellow house through their window.

One evening, while Felix was peeking through the bushes, he saw something sparkle in the tall grass. It was a small rectangular thing — an iPhone that a little girl named Lily had dropped while chasing fireflies. Felix nudged it with his nose, and suddenly the screen lit up like a tiny moon.

Felix had watched Lily use this magical device. He knew she could talk to it, and it would show her pictures of faraway places. But Felix didn't want to see places. He wanted something more.

In Lily's backyard, there was a small pond with three goldfish — Pumpkin, Splash, and Bubbles. Every night, Felix would visit them and tell them stories about the forest. They were his best friends, even though they lived in water and he lived on land.

That night, when lightning flashed across the sky like cracks in a dark bowl, Felix had an idea. He held the iPhone near the pond and pressed a button. To his amazement, the screen reflected in the water like a second moon, making ripples of light dance around Pumpkin, Splash, and Bubbles.

The goldfish swam through the glowing ripples, leaving trails of silver behind them. Felix watched in wonder as the light from the iPhone seemed to connect with the lightning above. For a moment, just a moment, the fish appeared to glow as brightly as the stars.

"Felix," whispered Pumpkin, breaking the surface of the water. "Because of you and your magic light-box, we can finally see the stars you always tell us about."

Felix felt his heart swell. He realized that the iPhone wasn't magic because it could show faraway places. It was magic because it helped him share something wonderful with his friends.

From that night on, whenever lightning streaked across the sky, Felix would bring the iPhone to the pond. The goldfish would glow, and together, the fox who lived on land and the fish who lived in water would wish upon stars reflected in their magical, shared light.

And sometimes, if you look very carefully on stormy nights, you might still see them there — a little fox, three glowing goldfish, and an iPhone that helps them touch the stars together.
