The Fox Who Collected Dreams
Lily loved her old floppy hat. It was blue with a yellow star, and she wore it everywhere. But today was special — she was exploring the woods behind her house, looking for adventures.
Pushing aside a curtain of leaves, Lily gasped. There, in a sunlit clearing, stood a tiny pyramid made of golden stones. It was only as tall as her knees, but it sparkled like captured sunshine.
"Hello," said a voice. Lily jumped. A red fox with the softest fur she'd ever seen stepped out from behind the pyramid. He wore no hat, but his eyes were wise and kind.
"I'm Finn," said the fox. "And this is the Dream Pyramid. It collects wishes from children who believe in magic."
Lily's eyes widened. "Really?"
Finn nodded. "Inside this pyramid, every dream ever wished by a child is kept safe. Would you like to see?"
Lily reached into her pocket and pulled out her mom's iphone. "Can I take a picture?"
"Dreams can't be captured by machines," Finn said gently. "But they can be captured by hearts. Touch the pyramid and make a wish — your truest wish."
Lily set down her phone and placed both hands on the golden stones. They were warm, like holding hands with a friend. She closed her eyes and wished with all her heart.
When she opened her eyes, Finn was smiling. The pyramid glowed brighter than ever. "Your wish is safe now," he said. "And whenever you need courage or wonder, just remember — the magic was always inside you."
"Will I ever see you again?" Lily asked.
"Look for me in your dreams," said the fox. "And remember, the best adventures are the ones we share with friends."
Lily waved goodbye and walked home, her blue hat bobbing as she skipped. She didn't need a picture to remember this day. The magic of the Dream Pyramid and her new friend Finn would stay in her heart forever.
That night, Lily dreamed of golden pyramids and red foxes, and she knew that magic was real — as long as you believed.
