The Fox Who Chased Lightning

Felix was a small fox with very big dreams. Every night, he watched **lightning** dance across the sky and imagined himself running just as fast.

"I want to be the fastest creature in the whole meadow!" Felix declared. But whenever he tried **running**, his little legs would get tired after just a few minutes.

One sunny morning, Felix's grandmother brought him a bowl of green leaves for breakfast. **Spinach**!

"Yuck!" Felix wrinkled his nose. "I don't want to eat leaves. I want to run fast!"

Grandmother Fox smiled gently. "The strongest creatures didn't become strong by wishing, Felix. The rabbits who outrun wolves? They eat their greens. The hawks who fly through storms? They eat whatever helps them grow strong."

Felix looked at his bowl. He looked at the sky where he'd seen **lightning** flash the night before. He took a tiny bite of the **spinach**. Then another. It wasn't so bad.

Every day, Felix ate his greens and practiced **running**. At first, he could only make it to the old oak tree before getting tired. Soon, he reached the stream. Then the hill beyond it.

On the night of the biggest storm of the year, Felix watched **lightning** streak across the sky brighter than ever before. He felt his legs tingle with energy – from all that **spinach**, from all that practice.

He took off **running**, faster and faster, until the meadow blurred beside him. He wasn't as fast as **lightning** yet, but he was fast enough – fast enough to race the wind, fast enough to help his friends when they needed him, fast enough to know that patience and practice could make even the smallest fox mighty.

And that night, as Felix curled up to sleep, he dreamed of **running** alongside **lightning**, and he knew that with enough heart, anything was possible.
