The Fox Who Caught Lightning
Felix was a fox with fur the color of autumn leaves, and he lived in a cozy burrow beneath an ancient oak tree. Every night, he would tiptoe to the edge of Miller's Pond to visit his best friend—a little goldfish named Glimmer with scales that shimmered like tiny stars.
One evening, as Felix approached the pond, the sky turned a deep purple and clouds gathered like cotton candy. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning cracked across the heavens—ZZZ-CRACK! The storm frightened Glimmer, who hid beneath a lily pad.
"Don't worry," Felix called gently. "I'll protect you!"
But just then, something magical happened. A tiny piece of that lightning did not strike the ground. Instead, it danced across the water like a glowing ribbon, then sank into the pond right where Glimmer had been swimming.
Glimmer's scales began to glow brighter than ever before! She swam up and gasped, "Felix, I can breathe outside the water now!"
The little goldfish leaped from the pond and floated beside her fox friend, her scales twinkling like a constellation that had fallen from the sky.
Felix's eyes widened with wonder. "Glimmer, you're magical!"
Glimmer giggled, bubbles floating from her mouth. "The lightning gave me a special gift. Now I can explore the world with you!"
Together, the fox and the magical goldfish ventured through the forest. They discovered a garden where the kinliest old woman grew the most delicious vegetables. She gave them a bright orange capsule.
"This is a special vitamin," she explained with a warm smile. "It keeps adventurers strong and healthy."
Glimmer and Felix shared the vitamin, feeling energy surge through them like sunshine. From that day on, whenever storms brought lightning to Miller's Pond, Glimmer would glow even brighter, and the two friends would set off on new adventures—exploring meadows, climbing mountains, and helping animals in need.
And every night, when the stars twinkled above, Felix would curl up beside the pond while Glimmer floated above the water, both dreaming of their next magical journey together.
For true friendship, they learned, is the greatest magic of all—brighter than lightning, more precious than gold, and stronger than any vitamin in the world.
