The Fox Who Caught Lightning
Oliver was a small red fox with very big dreams. While other foxes chased rabbits, Oliver chased lightning bolts. Every stormy night, he'd sit on the highest hill, watching the sky light up with brilliant flashes. "One day," he whispered, "I'll catch one and keep it in a jar."
One evening, a strange orange glow appeared near the old oak tree. Oliver crept closer, his tail twitching with excitement. There, sitting on a mossy rock, was the biggest bear he'd ever seen. But this bear wasn't scary — he was holding a magical orange that pulsed with light like a tiny lightning bug.
"Hello, little friend," the bear rumbled gently. "Would you like to see my treasure?"
Oliver inched forward. The orange wasn't ordinary at all — it had streaks of glowing lightning inside!
"This grew from the magic palm tree that appears only during the biggest storms," Bear explained. "But I'm too big to climb it. Perhaps someone quick and brave like you could help me?"
Oliver's eyes widened. "You mean... you want ME to climb a MAGIC tree?"
Together they waited. When the next storm rolled in, a shimmering palm tree appeared in the meadow, its trunk twisted like a spiral staircase. Oliver scrambled up, his claws finding easy holds. At the very top hung three more lightning oranges.
"Take only one," Bear called up. "Magic is for sharing, not keeping."
Oliver picked the biggest one and climbed down. Together, fox and bear sat under the old oak as the storm passed. They cut the magical orange into perfect halves, and as they ate, they understood something wonderful: the best treasures aren't the ones you catch and keep — they're the ones you share with friends.
And every storm after that, Oliver and Bear would wait together, not to catch lightning, but to share the magic it brought.
