The Fox Who Caught Lightning
In a forest where the trees whispered secrets to the wind, there lived a clever little fox named Finn. His fur burned as bright as a sunset, and his eyes sparkled like morning dew. But Finn had no one to share his adventures with.
One afternoon, storm clouds gathered. Thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky—but this wasn't ordinary lightning. It was orange-gold and shimmered like spun sugar. Curious, Finn chased it as it danced through the forest, leading him to a hidden grove he'd never seen before.
There, hanging from a single silver tree, grew the most magnificent orange Finn had ever seen. It glowed softly, as if it contained a piece of the sun itself.
"A magic orange," breathed a small voice behind him.
Finn jumped! A tiny squirrel named Squeak peeked from behind a mushroom. She held up a blackberry. "I'll trade you. This blackberry has special vitamin that makes you brave."
Finn's heart raced. A friend! Someone who wanted to trade, not run away!
"What's a vitamin?" Finn asked.
"It's a tiny magic inside food," Squeak explained. "It helps you grow strong and happy. My grandma says oranges have the most powerful vitamin of all!"
Finn looked at the glowing orange. He could take it for himself. But something tugged in his chest—a warm feeling he'd never felt before.
"Let's share it," Finn said. "Together."
Squeak's eyes grew wide. "Really? You'd share with me?"
Finn nodded. "That's what friends do."
They ate the magic orange together as the last of the strange orange lightning faded from the sky. Suddenly, they both began to glow—not with magic power, but with something warmer. They felt braver, kinder, and stronger.
"The vitamin wasn't in the orange," Squeak realized, smiling. "It was in the sharing!"
From that day on, Finn and Squeak had the best adventures. And whenever storm clouds gathered, they would watch for orange lightning, remembering that the greatest magic isn't found in things—it's found in friendship.
