The Fox Who Caught a Star
Felix was a small red fox with the biggest ears in the forest. Every night, he would sit on the highest hill and watch storms roll across the sky. But Felix wasn't like other foxes. While they were scared of thunder, Felix dreamed of catching lightning.
One rainy evening, the sky turned purple and green. Lightning danced like silver ribbons across the clouds. Felix pressed his paws over his ears—not from fear, but to hear better. He could hear something sparkling in each bolt.
Then he saw it: a tiny bolt of lightning, no bigger than a firefly, spiraling down toward the river below. It landed with a gentle splash, and the water began to glow.
Felix crept closer, his heart pounding. In the river swam a creature unlike anything he'd ever seen—a fish made entirely of crackling light! It darted through the water like living electricity, leaving trails of sparkle wherever it went.
"Hello!" Felix called out. The lightning-fish surfaced, its scales shimmering with captured starlight.
"I'm Spark," the fish bubbled. "I fell from the sky during the storm. I need to get back home before my light fades forever!"
Felix's mind raced. How could a small fox help a star-fish return to the clouds? Then he remembered the old willow tree by the river—the one that grew taller every full moon.
"Climb onto my nose," Felix said. "I have an idea."
Spark wriggled onto Felix's snout, and the fox carried his glowing friend to the willow tree. Felix climbed higher and higher, his claws digging into the bark. The wind whistled around them as they reached the very top branch.
The storm clouds weren't far now. Felix stretched his paws as high as he could. Spark jumped, a tiny bolt of light shooting upward, higher and higher, until *zap!*—Spark rejoined the lightning dancing across the sky.
From that night on, Felix wasn't just a fox who watched storms. Whenever lightning flashed, a tiny spark would dance down to say hello, and the fox who caught a star would wave back, his heart full of friendship and wonder.
